Book II
Her Own Door
Nerin Solva has a job, a rented room, and a life of her own.
Not as BeforeAbout the Book
Nerin Solva has a job, a rented room, and a life of her own.
Then an old family door opens at her approach.
Inside the house, Ressa Doven meets a woman with her face.
The resemblance should be impossible. The house makes it harder to dismiss. An old nursery holds two marked places. Paired objects answer in ways no one can explain away. Records meant to settle the matter disagree about which child survived.
Ressa wants answers. Nerin wants the truth without having her life arranged around it.
As they trace altered records and old protections, the house begins to respond. Doors that should open stay closed. Familiar safeguards behave differently. Someone changed the relationship between the house and the people it was built to recognize.
Nerin may belong to this history.
That does not mean the history owns her.
When the past recognizes you, does it get to decide who you are?
A fantasy mystery about family, identity, inherited magic, and the right to choose where you belong.
